Among the greatest wonders in Peru we have Los Frailones, in the department of Cajamarca. This is an incredible stone structure located at 3,500 meters above sea level.

They are located in the archaeological area of Cumbemayo and were called “frailones” by the Spaniards, who distinguished from afar these structures that looked like gigantic hooded friars.

These structures were built around the year 1500 B.C., by a civilization older than the Incas, becoming one of the oldest works made by the man in Latin America.

But nature also made its work: for centuries they were shaped by the sun, wind and rain. Los Frailones, in the middle of a desolate landscape and beautiful plains, represent one of the biggest tourist attractions in the region.
