    The port city of Tianjin, in northeastern China, is trying to overcome the tragedy caused by the explosion, which occurred on Wednesday night in a warehouse with flammable products that have caused 50 deaths and more than seven hundred wounded, according the official count.

    The port district where the event took place has practically become a war zone, with a perimeter of about two kilometers, with restricted access and evacuated buildings.

    The Teda Hospital of Tianjin receives the great majority of injured people, which 71 of them are in serious condition, according to the latest figure provided by local authorities and quoted by the official Xinhua news agency.

    Near the health center, field hospitals were installed to treat victims of the explosion.

    Dozens of soldiers and police officers guard the port area, where it still can be seen a plume of thick black smoke.

    Tianjin firefighters took more than 16 hours to declare the fire as controlled at a container terminal with flammable products that generated the explosions.
