El máximo premio de la noche, Película del Año, fue otorgado a la saga The Twilight (Crepúsculo): Amanecer Parte 1. De esta manera, los MTV Movie Awards 2012 dieron fin a la esperada gala.

Sin embargo, a la película The Hunger Games, que también competía para este premio, no le fue tan mal, pues se llevó 4 Golden Popcorn: Mejor Actor, Mejor Actriz, Mejor Pelea y Mejor Transformación.
